We are looking for solutions capable of reducing / eliminating the need for refining steps in the niobium ore processing. These steps take place at high costs due to the price of the equipment used, in addition to the elevated amount of energy demanded. Therefore, intelligent and selective technologies are welcome to ensure the purest niobium concentrate and reduce costs by shortening the process.
If your project is selected, you will have the opportunity to implement your proof of concept of the solution at one of the Vale or Arcelor Mittalmining companies. Budget, when applicable, will be set in the bootcamp stage. Subsequently, the case can be replicated to the other mining companies aiming to win new customers.
LOCATION OF THE PoC: CBMM Lab in Araxá
The challenge of detecting visible emissions, launched in the theme of operational efficiency, concerns the perception of the population in relation to the emission coming out of the chimneys. This emission, besides being perceived as visual pollution by the population, can generate the perception of dust residues inside the houses of these families, generating dissatisfaction.
The generation of this emission, as can be seen from the infographic, is due to the process of pellet burning which results mainly in combustion products. These components go through an electrostatic filter capable of holding up to 99.9% of the particulate components. We are looking for solutions capable of detecting and measuring the visible emission, in the most diverse weather and meteorological conditions, such as high or low humidity, day or night periods, rainy or dry periods etc... so that it is possible to distinguish possible emissions of particulates and control them.
LOCATION OF THE PoC: Vitória-ES
The purpose is to avoid or reduce tears in the conveyor belt and consequent loss of production. Currently, the highest occurrence of tears happens in the feed chute end, totaling 60% of the incidents. The causes of tearing can be the presence of non-crushable brittle, lamellar materials, misalignment, roller malfunctioning, blocking by accumulation of material in the transfers (chutes). A tear detector already exists in the operation, but is not satisfactory. We expect solutions capable of identifying relations of change of the variables monitored at the moment immediately before the tearing leading to their predictability and other plausible solutions for the reduction of impacts or prevention of them.
LOCATION OF THE PoC: Itabira-MG
The challenge is measuring instantly in real time what percentage of pellets (gridding bodies), ore and water are inside the SAG mill. There are two required parameters: % pellets and % full content level. Failure to control the level of content, whether only pellets or the whole fill can lead to loss of productivity or
